Objective: To study the changes of serum electrolytes and blood glucose in children with different degree of neonatal asphyxia. Methods: According to the severity of the disease, 83 neonates with asphyxia were divided into mild asphyxia group (n = 49) and severe asphyxia group (n = 34). 56 normal newborns were used as control group. The difference of serum electrolytes and blood glucose among the three groups was compared. Results: There was significant difference in blood glucose, serum potassium, serum sodium, blood chloride, serum calcium and serum magnesium between mild asphyxia group and mild asphyxia group as compared with control group <0.05). There was no significant difference in serum phosphorus between the three groups (P> 0.05). Neonatal asphyxia children with hyponatremia, hypochloride, hypocalcemia are more common, blood magnesium also decreases with the deepening of the severity of asphyxia; blood glucose decreased in the early asphyxia, and later with the degree of deepening and asphyxia increased phenomenon. Conclusion: Neonatal asphyxia treatment should pay close attention to changes in electrolytes and blood glucose, and take appropriate measures according to the specific circumstances
