In recent years, the rapid development of facility agriculture in Jiangsu Province in terms of scale and efficiency has become a major feature of the country’s agriculture. It has played an important role in raising the level of agriculture industry, enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products and increasing farmers’ incomes. The scale of facilities and agriculture in Jiangsu Province has been continuously expanding. The total area of agricultural facilities in the province rose from 296.2 thousand hectares in 2008 to 640 thousand hectares in 2012, accounting for 13.58% of the total cultivated land area in the province from 6.28%. The efficiency of agricultural production in facilities continued to increase. The average per mu of agricultural greenhouse effect of steel structure construction facilities in Jiangsu Province exceeded 7,000 yuan, and the average per mu of solar greenhouse reached 10,000 yuan, 4 times and 6 times of open field cultivation respectively.
