莎士比亚的戏剧尽管妙趣横生,引人入胜,但是,他却从来就不单为了“好看”和“好玩”而写作。他将戏剧当作反思历史和探索人生的伟大手段。他之所以显得伟大和让人敬仰,根本上讲,是因为他关注那些与人生相关的重要问题,并且对这些问题有着深刻的思考和庄严的回答,正像柳无忌先生所指出的那样:“莎士比亚的光荣永久存在着,因为他懂得人生,人生的微奥;他的作品犹如一个灿烂的宝石圆顶,里边照映着各色的人生及情感。”~a
Shakespeare’s plays, though fun and inviting, have never been written for “good looks” and “fun”. He uses theater as a great tool to reflect on history and explore life. The reason why he appears to be great and admirable is, fundamentally speaking, because he is concerned about important life-related issues and has profoundly pondered and solemnly answered these questions, just as Mr. Liu Wuji pointed out: “Shakespeare’s glory permanent, because he knows life, life’s micro-Austrian; his work is like a brilliant gem dome, which reflects a variety of life and emotion.” ~ A
