1996年春夏之交的某一夜,我曾在北京观看由美国费城交响乐团演奏的贝多芬《第三交响曲·英雄》,地点是人民大会堂,指挥为德国老人沃尔夫冈·萨瓦利施。这是我第一次现场观看世界一流乐团的演出,心情激动。但称“观看”而不说“聆听”,却又是恰如其分的。人民大会堂真是太大了,我的座位靠后,靠边,我的目光吃力地越过许许多多人的头颅,只能看清台上一团黑色礼服的模糊
One night at the turn of the spring / summer 1996, I watched Beethoven’s “Third Symphony Heroes” by the Philadelphia Symphony in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People under the command of the elder Wolfgang Sava Lisi. This is my first live watch world-class orchestra performance, feeling excited. But saying “watching” instead of “listening” is just the right one. The Great Hall of the People is so big that my seat is leaning against the edge and my eyes are struggling to overcome the heads of so many people and I can only see the blur of a black dress on the stage
