Footwork refers to the method of footsteps used by table tennis players to choose the proper batting position. The ping-pong player’s batting action mainly includes tactics and step-by-step methods, and the two are closely linked and indispensable. Table tennis requires athletes in a very short period of time, according to the speed of the ball, landing, rotation, etc. to make prompt judgments, without losing the timing of countermeasures, and make the corresponding batting action. Step by step move is correct, is an important part of the implementation of countermeasures. However, in training, coaches’ main energies are often focused on developing correct techniques while neglecting the training of footwork. This “first-step method ” training has resulted in the athlete’s technique is good and the result is poor. Thus affecting the children’s table tennis progress and improve the level.
