This article explores the relationship between the story of the protagonist and the immigrant discourse in “Philadelphia, Me!” (1964), a Northern Irish playwright based on the perspective of aesthetics, history and psychoanalysis. The article points out that the protagonist ’s narration and role division can both be regarded as exercises. This unrealistic way of expression has individual psychological causes, but it is also not without cultural factors, especially Irish farewell immigration ceremony. From this point of view, this article first describes the unique view of time in this ritual, and then analyzes the relationship between the ritual and the narrative of the protagonist in order to examine the meaning of the personal story of this work in Irish culture.
