According to reports from relevant parties in Japan, in recent years, with the changes in production environment (mainly market needs, exchange rates, appreciation of the yen, changes in raw material import prices, etc.) and production tasks, equipment has been driven to large scales due to technological progress. With the development of automation and high speed, the maintenance conditions are also changing (the development of equipment deterioration, advances in diagnostic technology, etc.). In order to win the competition in the international market, a new system of equipment management and maintenance adapted to the economic situation was developed on behalf of the Nippon Steel Kimchi Steel Works. The ADAMS (Adaptive Maintenance System) is an electronic computer maintenance management system that is established based on the maintenance idea that is most suitable for the equipment conditions in each period (called adaptive maintenance, and AM is an acronym for Adaptive Maintenance). At the Kimitsu Plant, through the introduction and application of the ADAMS system, we achieved the following: (1) Overcome the shortcomings of not asking questions, repeating the same maintenance method, and having poor economic returns. Can adapt to changes in circumstances at all times and conduct appropriate maintenance activities; (2) In the aspect of human experience, from traditional management to scientific management; (3) Can make more complete and objective maintenance activities
