Professional anti-mine equipment appears to lack the sufficient number available to effectively combat the threat of mines. Some systems may be built on surface ships. They include a shipboard system and a remote-control navigational body that carries advanced sensors and can detect mine clearances in various waters. There is no single system that does all the work and needs a mix of systems that work for you. The article explains the characteristics of the threat to mines and discusses the different building systems available to the fleet, the design considerations for each system, and the special role each system has for its particular capabilities. It also stressed that the Navy had to deal with mines in the near future and must find a solution to the problem.
