In the early 1950s, the cause of building new China was rising day by day. In response to the serious lack of archeology in infrastructure construction, the Ministry of Culture (Social Culture Administration) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Institute of Archeology), Peking University from 1952 to In 1955, four joint training courses for archeologists were held, bringing the total number of trainees to 369. At that time, almost all well-known scholars in the relics and archeology that remained in the mainland took part in the lectures. For the cultural relics and archeology of new China, this is an unprecedented “firefighting” operation, but also a cultural banquet, and later students no longer have the honor. Since the 1980s, these four trainees have been hailed as the “Whampoa 4” in the archeology.
