The Three Gorges Project is a key century project for the development and management of the Yangtze River and has such comprehensive benefits as flood control, power generation and shipping. June 1, 2003, the Yangtze River Three Gorges Project began to gate water storage, to June 10, the water level reached 135 meters above sea level. This means that the Three Gorges Project started to benefit from the construction period. The power supply of the Three Gorges Power Station is very extensive and can provide reliable and cheap electricity for economically developed and energy-poor central and eastern China, replacing 40-50 million tons of raw coal each year.
