毕节地区是一个很具典型的少数民族散居地区,全区8个县中有一个自治县(威宁彝族回族苗族自治县),撤并建后有77个民族乡。境内居住着汉、彝、苗、布依、回,仡佬、白、满,蒙古等35个民族,少数民族人口占全区总人口的26.7%。这几年, 全区少数民族经济较之党的十一届三中全会前有了较快的发展, 但与全国、全省其他地区相比,发展十分缓慢,还处于低层次,
The Bijie area is a typical area for the settlement of ethnic minorities. There is one autonomous county in the 8 districts (Weining Yi and Miao Autonomous County), and 77 ethnic townships were removed and built. The territory is home to 35 ethnic groups including Han, Yi, Miao, Buyi, Hui, Gelao, Bai, Manchu and Mongolia. Ethnic minorities account for 26.7% of the total population in the region. In recent years, the economy of ethnic minorities in the entire region has enjoyed a rapid development compared with that before the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. However, compared with the rest of the country and other parts of the province, the economy of the minority nationalities has developed very slowly and is still at a low level.
