In order to predict the fuel injection characteristics of the instability observed in the test, a common rail diesel injector simulation program called UNIJET was modified. In order to understand the effect of cavitation on the flow characteristics of outflowed fuel, injector control valve simulation receives special attention. Since the pre-injection and main injection time delays are reduced, the residual motion of the control valve after the pre-injection cycle is responsible for the apparent transient difference in the main injection cycle injection quantity. The numerical predictions and control valve lift measurements were compared and compared with the experimental correlations between fuel injection quantity, fuel injection pressure and fuel injection duration.
