在关于北京的地方风物志中,《帝京景物略》是较早且文学性较强的一部。主笔刘侗深受明代竟陵派影响,作品带有明显的竟陵文风。在语言方面刻意经营、求新求奇。具体来看,《帝京景物略》的语言具有以下特色:文辞简洁而凝练,寥寥数语即勾勒出景物特色;变幻句式,取得陌生化效果;大量运用叠词、对偶、排比,极尽描写之能事;独特的比喻和拟人修辞格,使文章更加精彩。当然,有的地方过于刻意,令人费解,给人以滞涩之感。总体来看,瑕不掩瑜,亦复可观。
