在英语谚语中有句为“Don’t judge by appearances”.(人不可貌相,海水不可斗量.)此话用于英语字母“s”甚为恰当.字母“s”看似平常,但在英语语法和词汇中却扮演着一个不可忽视的角色.它除具有体现名词复数形式及一般现在时单数第三人称的语法功能外,还在英语词汇和修辞方面表现出微妙的作用.
In English proverbs there is a sentence “Don’t judge by appearances”. (People can not be appearance, sea water can not measure.) This is very appropriate for the English letter “s”. The letter “s” seems ordinary, but in In English grammar and vocabulary, it plays a role that cannot be ignored.
