大多数身为翰林大臣的扈从诗人随扈皇上往来于大都与上都之间的经历,丰富了他们的人生视野和创作素材。恢宏的草原景象、变化无常的气候、诗人的怀乡之情、粗犷的边塞生活、豪迈的民族精神、深沉的历史沉淀等,使这些诗人创作的作品出现了一系列明显的具有边塞特点的诗歌意象,使这些作品带上了浓郁的边塞诗的风格特点,是盛唐以来边塞诗风的赓续,也是元代民族与时代特点的写照。
