王羲之自称;‘吾有七儿一女,皆同生。婚娶已毕,惟小者(献之)尚未婚耳。’羲之又有与《郗家论婚书》也举了夫人‘诞玄之、凝之、肃之、徽之、操之、献之’。七儿缺了一人,只六儿。唐修《晋书》在王羲之本传中称羲之‘有子七人,知名者五人,玄子早卒,次凝之’。下写凝之事迹,此暂略。以下先看本传子目‘徽之(子桢之)’——‘徽之弟操之’——献之’。本文只写事迹。如上,羲之本人书缺一儿,而《晋书》本传五人外,其他二人连名字也来作任何交代,说明唐人未作调查研究。
