葫芦谷位于河北省曲阳县城北30公里深山中,虽然群山环抱,但并不高峻,属中低山地貌。广泛分布着厚大的一套寒武纪海相石灰岩地层,由于燕山期(1.4亿年间)地壳运动,受不同方向断裂切割,形成了十分奇特千姿百态的自然景观。如神龟探海、鳄鱼扑食及卧虎岭、仙桃岭、僧帽山、鸡公山等象形山脉比比皆是。流传最盛的是这里为隋唐时代白马银枪将罗成日锁五龙惨烈的葫芦谷战场遗址。游人偶尔还能拣到当年的铁质、铜质箭头,领略当时的战斗风彩。
