1949年9月,中国人民政治协商会议第一届全体会议通过了《中国人民政治协商会议共同纲领》,发挥了临时宪法的作用,为1954年宪法的制定奠定了基础。1954年9月,一届全国人大第一次会议通过了《中华人民共和国宪法》。这是中华人民共和国的第一部宪法,共4章106条,确立了社会主义基本制度。
