Objective: To investigate the significance of vascular endothelial growth factor-C (VEGF-C) expression in breast cancer patients of Han and Uygur nationality in Xinjiang and its relationship with clinicopathological features. Methods: Eighty cases of breast cancer patients undergoing surgery in the hospital from January 2009 to March 2014 were enrolled in this study. Forty Uygur and Han nationality patients were enrolled. Fifteen Uygur and Han Chinese patients with benign fibromatosis In the control group, the expression of VEGF-C mRNA in breast cancer tissues was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (QRTPCR). The correlation between VEGF-C expression in breast cancer tissues and clinicopathological features was analyzed. Results: The expression of VEGF-C in breast cancer was significantly higher than that in normal benign tumor (P <0.05). The expression of VEGF-C in stage Ⅲ invasive ductal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in stage Ⅰ (P <0.05). The expression of VEGF-C in stage Ⅱ invasive ductal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in stage Ⅰ, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05); in patients with breast cancer There was no significant correlation between the expression of VEGF-C and the size of tumor (P <0.05), but there was a significant correlation between the expression of VEGF-C and clinical stage and lymph node metastasis (P <0.05) The difference was not statistically significant (P> 0.05). CONCLUSION: VEGF-C mRNA is highly expressed in breast cancer patients and relatively less in breast benign tumors. The expression of VEGF-C in stage III invasive ductal carcinoma is significantly higher than that in stage I and II invasive ductal carcinoma, suggesting that VEGF-C plays an important role in the early stage of breast cancer occurrence and development.
