First, the project overview The rapid development of jet aircraft from 1957 to 1958 urgently needed to transform Philadelphia International Airport to adapt to the jet navigation business. The main project is to extend the original runway, the new 2,300-foot runway and the corresponding facilities. The original airport was completed in the 1930s and was built on the fringe of a marsh adjacent to the silt. Part of the area is submerged by the tides of the Delaware River, partly as dredged muddy areas. From 1949 to 1950, the airport was expanded to flood flood plain where the soil is deep silt and soil
