The brick-making industry in Eastern Europe (including the Soviet Union, Poland, Democratic Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Romania) has a long tradition. The clay bricks produced in the countries of Eastern Europe are still rewarded by the strong competition threat of building materials such as concrete slabs, aerated concrete blocks, calcium silicate bricks and gypsum. After World War II, prefabricated concrete slabs were expanded in terms of industrialized dwellings due to the accelerated construction of residential buildings and the rapid development of mechanical operations. Although the proportion of bricks in construction continued to decline, it remained in the public housing sector.
