1803 years. The United States spent fifteen million U.S. dollars buying Louisiana from France. This land is four times the size of the French mainland and includes everything from Los Angeles to the Mississippi except Texas: vast forests in Arkansas and Minnesota, oil deposits in Oklahoma, cornfields in Iowa, dakota The fields, Colorado and Montana also contain copper and silver, gold and Louisiana’s rice and sugar. The main port of the world’s fourth-longest river is also on the land. However, few were aware of its role at the time, and there is no doubt that the purchase of Louisiana was one of the most profitable events in American history. This transaction alone enabled the original third class nation to more than double its territory, united the land and population of all states, and jumped to become a great power in the world.
