Insect chitin synthase inhibitors, developed in the 1970s, are a type of benzoylphenyl urea that interferes with chitin in insect epidermis and have larvicidal and oviposition effects on certain insects. In 1970, Phillip-Dover, a Dutch company, discovered from the screening of herbicides that the drug was developed by Thompson-Hayward, USA and extensively studied the mechanism of action and pest control agents. This new type of pest control agent, which is very different from the conventional three categories of pesticides (organochlorine, organophosphorus, carbamate), is a very successful example of the current chemical biomimetic synthesis and development.
