In order to meet the needs of the rapid development of science and technology in the 21st century, Hewan decided in January 1996 to establish the second Science Park in Taiwan (referred to as Nanke) in Tainan. By the end of 1999, 33 manufacturers have been stationed in the park, and the output value in 2001 is estimated to be 40 billion Taiwan dollars. The Taiwan authorities described “Nanke” as “the hope of becoming a science and technology island in a cross-century.” Taiwan authorities have followed the example of the Stanford Science Park (Silicon Valley) in the United States that founded the first Hsinchu Science Park “Hsinchu Science Park” (“Bamboo Branch”) in Hsinchu in September 1980. At present, the new “South Branch ” is the extension and development of “Bamboo Branch ”. All of them are bases for the combination of scientific research and production. They are all concentrated areas for the development of high-tech industries, especially for the semiconductor industry .
