“人是天生的政治动物”,两千年前,亚里士多德如是说。职场之上,同样生存着一类“政治动物”。“政治动物”固然令人可恼,但我们仍要学习如何与他们共处,甚至可从中学习晋升之道。在观察经理人的职业生涯时,我们往往会听到两类迥异的故事。一类故事中,主人公在职业生涯的早期就显露出了非凡的领导才能,他们能在复杂的情形下处理问题,并愿意承担责任。另一类故事则告诉我们,有些管理者虽然不具备第一类人的才干,但纯熟掌握人际关系技巧,知道如何伪装自己在领导远见和能力方面的匮乏,并总是能够不择手段地保全自己,最终逢凶化吉。他们,就是职场中的“政治动物”。
“Man is a born political animal,” Aristotle said two thousand years ago. Above the workplace, the same kind of “political animal” survives. While “political animals” are troubling, we still have to learn how to live with them and even learn about the path of promotion. When looking at a manager’s career, we often hear two very different stories. In one type of story, the protagonists revealed extraordinary leadership skills early in their careers. They deal with problems in complex situations and are willing to take responsibility. The other kind of story tells us that some managers, though they do not have the first kind of talents, are skilled in interpersonal skills and know how to disguise their lack of leadership and ability and are always able to unscrupulously preserve themselves, Ultimately auspicious. They are the “political animals” in the workplace.
