长治县地处山西省东南部,上党腹地,雄琚太行之脊,山川雄胜,物阜民殷。素有“宗藩大国”、“山西巨郡”之称,历代为兵家必争之地。全县辖6镇5乡,总人口33万人,总面积483平方公里。辖区内驻军有县人民武装部、武警长治县中队和县消防中队。全县优抚对象1.3万余人。驻军少,优抚对象多,成为了长治县双拥工作的一个显著特点。
