Prior to studying in the United States, Mr. Wu Yong had chosen a major as a chemical engineer before studying in the United States (1916). Fortunately, when the principal of Tsinghua School Zhou Yichun was well aware of his talent and literary accomplishment, he chose him to study at the University of Virginia in the United States and to study professional English literature. University of Virginia is a veteran and conservative institution whose English literature is known for its strict language training and solid foundation of literary and historical knowledge. It is undoubtedly of great benefit to him that he should study for one year (1916-1917) for his future promotion and further study. But he was not satisfied with drilling the pile.
