60年前的9月8日,毛泽东在为战士张思德同志举行的追悼会上,发表了《为人民服务》的著名演讲。这篇演讲向全党121万党员,9100万根据地人民和全中国4.5亿人民昭示了中国共产党人的立党宗旨和奋斗的追求:“我们这个队伍完全是为着解放人民的,是彻底地为人民的利益工作的。”7个月后的1945年4月,中国共产党第七次代表大会第一次把“为人民服务”作为党的根本宗旨写进了党章,明确规定:“中国共产党人必须具有全心全意为人民服务的精神”。这一宗旨,集中体现了马克思主义的历史观、价值观,是全党一切行动的出发点和归宿。一部中国共产党奋斗的历史,也是一部为中国人民服务的历史。中国共产党人践行党的宗旨,为民族复兴、国家富强、人民富裕艰苦工作的精神,赢得了亿万人民的拥护和敬仰。
