It has been reported that the incidence of rat bladder tumors fed 2-acetylaminofluorene and tryptophan is higher than that of rats fed 2-acetaminofluorene alone. In addition, tryptophan can not only induce bladder tumors, but also increase the incidence of tumors induced by diethylnitrosamine (DENA). The authors administered tryptophan to rats ingested with 3’-methyl-N-dimethylaminoazobenzene (3’-MeDAB) to understand their role in oncogenesis.
