1990年EMD在原710G系列柴油机的基础上研制出首台改进型柴油机。这种新型柴油机被命名为710GA,其燃油经济性较之老型号的710柴油机的高1.5%,较之原645系列中的最新型号的高5.5%。新研制的710GA型柴油机的设计改变主要包括:采用了新的动力组件、结构经过改进的中冷器、新的匹配式涡轮增压器和燃油喷射装置。这些新的零部件使得空气和燃油的控制得到进一步优化,从而提高了燃烧效率,改善了燃油经济性。这些改进型部件是在应用了EMD的最先进的分析技术和试验方法的基础上研制成功的。
In 1990, EMD developed the first improved diesel engine based on the original 710G series diesel engine. Named the 710GA, this new diesel has 1.5% more fuel economy than the older model 710 diesel and 5.5% more than the latest model in the 645 series. The newly developed 710GA diesel engine design changes include: the use of new power components, the structure of the improved intercooler, the new matching turbocharger and fuel injection device. These new components allow air and fuel control to be further optimized, improving combustion efficiency and improving fuel economy. These improved components were developed based on the state-of-the-art analytical techniques and test methods using EMD.
