This paper describes the structure and performance of a large-area cosmic ray scintillation detector with a size of 500 × 500 × 50mm. Because of the air-based light guide box with tower-type square structure and the titanium oxide powder used in the inner wall of the light guide box and the scintillator reflection layer, The detector’s response to cosmic rays was 53% for the omnidirectional single-particle resolution and 5.18% for the detector response.
