我国古典小说经常有关于“蒙汗药”的描述。例如《水浒传》智取生辰纲一节,梁山好汉就是用“蒙汉药”迷倒了押送生辰纲的兵士,劫走了金银珠宝。其他史籍也不乏记载。经医学研究探明,“蒙汗药”主要由曼陀罗花与草乌等药组成。其中曼陀罗花又称洋金化、酒醉花、山茄花等,主要成分为东莨菪碱。现常将它辅以西药氯丙嗪、安定等,作为中医麻醉药使用。
