纽约广告大奖始创于1957年,当时这个全球竞争性的奖项主要是力非广播电视媒介的广告佳作而设。在此后的二十年间,这项大奖在全美的工业界与教育界取得了非凡的声誉。在20世纪70年代,新资源的加入又使其增添了电视电影广告、电视节目和促销诸多项目。广告、节目和促销竞争项目开始于1982年,印刷广告、设计、摄影图片、图像项目开始于1984年。为了适应技术和科技的发展,全球互联网络奖项亦于1992年正式设立。对于健康关怀的全球奖项也于1994年加入大赛,1995年又添设了广告市场效果奖,以嘉勉那些创意精良且市场销售突出的广告活动。近年来每次大赛均有60个以上的国家携15000件以上的作品参加角逐。中国内地作品亦曾进入决赛。每年的6月广告节开幕,并举行颁奖盛会,全球的广告精英们在此煮酒论英雄。赛事的每大项目均设有国际传媒大奖的金奖座,分门别类地决出金、银、铜奖,入围者颁给获奖证书。初审于4月举行,5月寄出决赛通知书,各分类奖项奖于5月选出,最大奖项将在6月的第一周最终揭晓。
The New York Advertising Awards was founded in 1957 when the globally competitive awards were largely based on the advertising excellence of the non-broadcast television media. Over the next two decades, this award has gained an extraordinary reputation among the nation’s industrial and educational communities.
