At the 2014 Army Association annual meeting, Magnesium Corporation announced that it has produced two solid forged aluminum alloy body samples for the U.S. Army and is currently conducting an explosion test for verification. The overall forged vehicle body is expected to replace the assembly body in the future and further enhance the strength of the armored vehicle body. Previous modeling and simulation results show that, due to the absence of weld, the overall body explosion-proof performance is 2 times the traditional body. In addition, the overall body will also reduce the weight of the vehicle, shorten the assembly time, and ultimately reduce manufacturing costs. The overall forged aluminum body is a joint venture between Magnesium and Aluminum Company and the U.S. Army as part of the U.S. Army’s “Affordable Targeted Threat Protection Program,” which is largely funded through affordable
