On 25 July 2006,Director General of the World Trade Organization(WTO)Pascal Lamy formally recommended the suspension of the Doha Round of global free trade talks.This signaled that,after five years’ heated bargaining,the Doha Round of the WTO negotiations,initiated on November 14,2001,had come to a disappointing end.Although all sides worked hard to reach an agreement,the negotiations still had a long way to go.
