在古镇遍地的西部,10个人中有8个都不曾知晓这座叫宁厂的小镇。但华夏五千年的史书,却从不曾忘记这个中国最早制盐地的过去,那“一泉流白玉,万里走黄金”的传奇,至今仍在这座深山无名小镇中流传……咆哮的长江水被三峡大坝拦腰截断,沿岸许多文物古迹就此作古——这可能是我终身遗憾的事情,因为我从未见识过未蓄水之前的三峡。不过,从我见到宁厂古镇那一刻起,我心中的遗憾被冲淡了许多——它是三峡工程蓄水完毕之后依然保存完整的古镇,也是整个三峡地区乃至西南地区最为古老,保存得最完好的古镇。大巴山的森林为它提供了天然庇护,甚至在它隶属的重庆地区,10个重庆人有8个都不知道有这个千年小镇的存在。
