科幻小说的功能之一是对未来世界做出预测。这种“预测”往往采用 “形象思维”的手法——说通俗些,即讲故事。“数百年之后,我们现在拥有的知识、技能是否会部分或全部被废弃?”这个既严肃又有趣的问题在英国作家查尔斯·谢菲尔德的笔下衍生出一则看似滑稽、实则充满智慧和哲理的故事。其结局固然带着浓郁的幽默色彩;但作者所描绘的200年后人类未来生活图景以及对“过时知识技能”命运的发问或许更令人深思。
One of the functions of science fiction is to predict the future of the world. This “prediction ” often adopts “image thinking ” approach - that is more popular, that is, tell the story. “After hundreds of years, we now have the knowledge, skills will be partially or completely abandoned? ” This is a serious and interesting issue in the British writer Charles Sheffield’s penny derived from a seemingly funny, but actually full Wisdom and philosophical story. Its outcome is of course accompanied by a rich sense of humor; however, it is perhaps more thought-provoking that the author’s picture of the future life of mankind after 200 years and the question about the fate of “outdated knowledge and skills”.
