2008年是中国香港和台湾地区的电影发生重要转机的一年。香港电影的各类影片中,和内地的合拍大片多维度地拓展了思辨和观赏价值;港产中等成本的商业片,类型美学进一步得以完善;以香港题材见长的港产文艺片,意图从生活方式或文化身份的角度观照香港社会及其变迁历史,更注重本土情怀的抒发。台湾电影也在一批新锐导演的带动下有了重大转机,以《海角七号》为代表的影片取得的艺术成就和商业成就,是对他们努力的最佳回报。转机中,港台地区的影片还存在着如何延续其本土特色、怎样继续提升观众对电影的信心等亟待解决的问题。
