沙尘暴和龙卷风是对人类和自然界极具破坏力的两种气候现象,但它们不是地球所独有的“灾星”。科学家发现,在火星上也有类似天气。例如,已发现火星上经常有高达10公里、直径达1公里的巨型烟囱式的漩涡,在火星两极之间徘徊,它们卷起大量铁锈色的灰尘和砂粒,形成类似龙卷风式的漩涡管横冲直撞,所到之处还爆发闪电,它们甚至支配火星气候,使火星连续几个月陷入黑暗之中。这个怪物就是火星沙尘暴。它们可能对将要登陆火星的着陆器和宇航员造成难以预测的麻烦,因此备受行星科学家和航天科学家的关注。
Dust storms and tornadoes are two climatic phenomena that are devastating to humans and nature, but they are not unique to the planet. Scientists have found that there is similar weather on Mars. For example, giant chimney vortices, often up to 10 kilometers in diameter and 1km in diameter, have been found on Mars, hovering between poles of the planet. They roll up large amounts of rust-colored dust and sand and form a tornado- Wherever lightning strikes everywhere, they dominate the Martian climate, keeping Mars in darkness for months in a row. This monster is a Mars dust storm. They may cause unpredictable troubles for landers and astronauts landing on Mars, attracting the attention of planetary and space scientists.
