“I Love Spring!” Yeah. It’s a sappy (充满朝气的) title, I know. I can’t think of anything 1 . But I really love spring for its vibrancy (活力) and freshness, its sense of hope of new life and love. It’s my favorite season of all, 2 late spring, when the leaves on the trees emerge, and the days start hitting 80 degrees. This week, I’ll have to go 3 our clothes and pack the sweaters away. Bring on the shorts! Bring on the tank tops (短背心)! My husband really seems to like it, for some reason. Outside, there’s a 4 that spans (跨过) across the three windows in our bedroom. When the wind blows, the leaves rustle (沙沙作响). It’s 5 to the sound of waves crashing on seashore; it turns our bedroom into an inland harbor. I don’t need to use the sound machine to help me to sleep at night anymore.
My son is downstairs talking to his grandfather. 6 , he will be flying off again,
7 towards a new life in the Philippines. His wife has gone back to their home to 8 their house, and then will return to 9 for a couple more weeks before going out to join him. They plan to use our house as base camp 10 they return to the States. I like the thought of it, our house as a standing stone, a haven to return to after being out in the field.
Now, if only I can keep it 11 enough so that it is the ideal meeting place. But I’m a writer, 12 means when the bug bites, laundry sits piled in my bedroom. Toy sare scattered (散布) in the living room. Dishes pile in the sink. My son 13 around, naked, paying no attention to whether I’m writing or not. But today is a treat. I’m 14 him wear underpants instead of diapers. I can hear the birds chirping outside. The wind billows through my curtains, making them puff out.
The air is warm with ahint (迹象) of 15 . By the door, my laundry glares at me from their baskets.
