“8小时重庆”是重庆市委、市政府为实施西部大开发战略,发展地方经济,改善人民生活采取的重大举措,它在重庆交通中占有举足轻重的地位。实施“8小时重庆”建设,是深入实践“三个代表”重要思想,完成江总书记亲自交办的四件大事,把重庆建成长江上游经济中心的需要。“8小时重庆”目标的实现,事关全市发展的长远利益和人民群众的根本利益,对充分发挥直辖市先生管理体制效应,实现大城市带动农村和城乡经济一体化共同发展,共同繁荣,实现三峡库区开发性移民,实现贫困地区人口脱贫致富,改善投资环境,树立直辖市新形象将起到积极的推动作用。
