宗炳的《画山水序》蕴含着丰富的环境美学智慧。他通过分析古代圣贤与山水的关系,揭示出远离世俗生活的自然山水对于人的重要作用,影响了中国文人们对荒寒之境的追求。宗炳推崇的荒野景观是含“道”的、有“灵”的自然山水,对山水中精神要素的强调是宗炳环境观的重要特征。在对自然美的欣赏上,宗炳还提出了趣、灵、秀美等自然审美标准。这些观点在中国环境美学史上具有开拓性的意义。
Zong Bing’s “Painting Landscape” contains a wealth of environmental aesthetics. By analyzing the relationship between the ancient sages and landscapes, he revealed that the natural landscape far from secular life has an important role on people and has influenced the pursuit of the westerners by the Chinese literati. Zong Bing’s wild landscape is “natural” with “Tao” and “Ling”. The emphasis on spiritual elements in landscape is an important feature of Zong Bing’s environmental concept. In appreciation of natural beauty, Zong Bing also proposed the natural aesthetic standards such as fun, spirit and beauty. These views have pioneering significance in the history of environmental aesthetics in China.
