OBJECTIVE: To observe the changes of neurotransmitters in cerebrospinal fluid of patients with Parkinson’s disease before and after stereotactic stereotactic surgery. What is the mechanism of this change? Methods: The levels of monoamine neurotransmitters in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of 15 patients with Parkinson ’s disease before and one week after operation were measured. Results: Postoperative cerebrospinal fluid dopamine levels were not significantly different from those before surgery, while serotonin, norepinephrine and 5-hydroxyindole-acetic acid were significantly decreased. The tremor and myotonia of the contralateral and distal limbs were disappeared after the operation, however, Exercise can not improve symptoms. CONCLUSIONS: Multiple neurotransmitters in the central postoperative Parkinson’s disease have changed and are temporarily balanced at low levels. Neurotransmitter biochemical changes from the central nervous system, brain stereotactic surgery can not completely cure Parkinson’s disease
