民生现代美术馆,由中国民生银行发起和出资建立,是中国大陆第一家以金融机构为背景的公益性艺术机构。2001年11月,民生现代美术馆公布已与原北京松下显像管厂签署了一份长达10年的房屋租赁协议,从此与798艺术区仅一街之隔的厂房将被改造为北京馆,计划于2012年年底正式开放,改建后的面积接近6万平米。
Minsheng Museum of Modern Art, initiated and funded by China Minsheng Bank, is the first non-profit art organization in mainland China based on financial institutions. In November 2001, the Minsheng Museum of Modern Art announced that it had signed a 10-year lease agreement with the former Beijing Matsushita CRT Factory. From then on, the plant just across the street from the 798 Art District will be transformed into the Beijing Pavilion. Officially opened at the end of 2012, the area after the reconstruction of nearly 60,000 square meters.
