五四运动,不仅仅是政治性质的民主革命运动,也是文学革命的开端,新诗便是在五四运动前后产生的新的文学形式。它不同于僵硬的古典诗歌,它是一种以白话作为基本语言手段,与现代口语相结合的新型诗歌体裁。新诗不再采取旧体诗规则押韵的传统古文形式,打破严格的形式规范,是以白话文入语,形式上更加自由,只要能表现诗人的真实感情,引起大众的赞赏共鸣,就会受到人民的推崇。发展在20年代的诗坛中对以后新诗发展形成重大影响的是新月诗派与象征诗派。
The May 4th Movement was not only a democratic revolutionary movement of political nature but also the beginning of a literary revolution. New poetry was a new literary form that emerged before and after the May 4th Movement. It is different from the rigid classical poetry, which is a new type of poetic style that combines vernacular as a basic language means with modern spoken language.
