我国煤炭资源丰富,开采历史悠久,成煤时代从古生代一直延续到新生代,煤种齐全,分布广泛。由于煤田地质条件千姿百态,给矿井生产建设带来了许多影响速度、效益的地质问题,即使采用先进的勘探技术和加密钻孔的方法也无法详尽无遗地探明。因此,矿井地质工作就成了煤田地质勘探工作的延续和保证矿井顺利开采的重要环节。30年来矿井地质工作者做了大量的工作,取得了可喜的成就。当前煤炭工业正朝着一翻保两翻的宏伟目标前进,而增加煤炭产量的主要途径是依靠现有大中型矿井的改造挖潜,建设一批现代化的矿井和大力发展地方煤矿,这又给矿井地质工作提出了新的主攻方向和广阔的研究领域。
