The first National Congress of the Kuomintang in January 1924 marked the formal establishment of the national democratic revolutionary united front based on the cooperation between the KMT and the CPC. The Northern Expedition after the conference was an inevitable result of the development of the Chinese revolution; it was also the case that the Chinese Communist Party adopted this united front. An important starting point for extensively mobilizing the workers and peasants and uniting the entire Chinese people in the upsurge of revolutionary struggle against imperialism and feudalism.
