“IGARSS’88-Remote Sensing: Moving towards the 21st Century” was published by the European Space Agency. It contains a compilation of 600 papers from the International Conference on Geosciences and Remote Sensing held in Edinburgh on September 12-19, 1988. The book is divided into three volumes and is a well-read collection of essays. The first volume contains the opening speech, including an important speech by Mr. Bonhrger Herman on “Moving from Remote Sensing to the 21st Century.” Papers include: Radiometry, Radar Cross Section Database and Simulation Services, Multi Polarimetric Radar, Geographic Information System, Waves (I), Terrestrial Ice, Future Space Systems, Pattern Recognition and Feature Extraction, Rain Remote Sensing, Calibration / Validation , Ground-based measurements, inverse radiation modeling of volumetric radiation, multi-polar synthetic aperture radar systems and calibrations, geology (I), sea ice (SAR), snow, SPOT and wind remote sensing.
