The exploration of the internationalization of Chinese enterprises has been going on for a period of time. The progress of the recent three to four years has accelerated markedly, reflecting some signs of leaping growth in the scale of foreign direct investment. In conjunction with the “Statistical Communique on the 2005 China’s Outward FDI” issued by the Ministry of Commerce and the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the outward direct investment flow in 2005 was close to 12.3 billion U.S. dollars, a surge of 1.23 times over the previous year with a total scale of more than 57 billion U.S. dollars.
