我对仿冒者购并创新者的事例相当不以为然;就像是比较有创意的公司只是为了钱就肯轻易出让。不过America Online购并Netscape却是赔本生意,理由不是Netscape被出卖,而是AOL将付出太多的代价。Netscape没有42亿美元的价值。此数字几乎是Compaq购并Digital价码的一半。当然,Digital的价值的确是Netscape的两倍以上。AOL所扮演的是市场商人的角色(marketeer),而非一个革新者。当我还住在弗吉尼亚州时,订阅这项在线服务之后,我所看到的是以麦金托什系统、文字模式为主所组成的破铜烂铁,根本没办法跟它的竞争
I’m pretty disagree with the case of counterfeiters buying innovators; just as a more creative company is willing to sell it for money only. However, the acquisition of Netscape America Online is a loss of business, the reason is not Netscape betrayed, but AOL will pay too much price. Netscape has no value of $ 4.2 billion. This figure is almost half the price Compaq acquired Digital. Of course, Digital’s value is really more than double that of Netscape. AOL plays the role of marketeer, not an innovator. When I was in Virginia, after subscribing to this online service, what I saw was a rotten iron based on the Macintosh system and the text mode, and there was absolutely no way to compete with it
